Instruction is in residence with class size limited to 12 students. A diploma is awarded for satisfactory performance in a designated area; certificates of attendance are issued when less than satisfactory performance has been made. Various cities and counties maintain ordinances requiring licensing of massage technicians. Prospective enrollees must check local requirements to determine if training at this institution will be applicable to their needs. This school currently does not have available sponsored programs, government or otherwise, to provide grants or to pay for portions of tuition fees. Prospective enrollees are encouraged to visit the physical facilities of the school and to discuss personal, educational and occupational plans with school personnel prior to enrolling or signing enrollment agreements.

This catalog and all the information following is a complete description of school operations. It is catalog #9, 2001. This course, Massage and Healing Arts, qualifies its graduates to practice massage in the public sector, providing that they meet their local governing business statutes. To receive Certification, a student must participate in the entire course and complete a home exam. Due to the unique nature of this course and its instruction, its intensity and the importance of continuity, no credit towards completion is granted for previous experience or training.
Individuals with previous or equivalent education or training may arrange for a specialized program. California regulation does not permit courses of massage involving correspondence through the mail) instruction. A Student Profile Record will be kept on file for five years evaluating performance in experiential skills, the formal take home exam, the interim research presentation and class participation.
Pacific School of Massage and Healing Arts offers placement assistance to students in the form of recommendations and referrals to massage-related businesses such as chiropractic offices, spas, beauty salons and holistic health establishments; information necessary to the creation of a private practice is also offered. Class size is limited to twelve students to ensure strong individualized instruction.
Students are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the values of trust, nurturance and respect which underlie the work of massage and the healing arts. Persons conducting themselves inappropriately may be dismissed at the discretion of the administrator.
Pacific School of Massage and Healing Arts is approved for 30 contact hours of Nursing C.E.U. credit under B.R.N. Provider No. 8862. Advanced professional instruction can continue for graduates of Pacific School of Massage and Healing Arts through the offerings of Transformational Bodyworks Seminars also owned and operated by Cheryl and Fred Mitouer.
Summit University of Louisiana recognizes the academic value of the curriculum offered by Pacific School of Massage and Healing Arts and Transformational Bodyworksm Seminars. In accordance with this, all learning experienced in these programs will earn academic units of credit, which can be applied toward a Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degree. Summit University honors the certificated studies completed with Pacific School of Massage and Healing Arts and/or Transformational Bodyworksm Seminars; and through Summit University of Louisiana’s assessment process will pro vide an official partial transcript. These units can be transferred into a degree program with Summit University.
Cancellation and Refund
The student is advised that any notification of withdrawal or cancellation and any requests of a refund must be in writing.
The refund policy for students who have completed 60% or less of the course of instruction is a pro rata fund. The school shall, for all students, without penalty or obligation, refund 100% of the amount paid for institutional charges, less the non-refundable registration fee of $100.00, if written notice of cancellation is made prior to or on the first day of instruction. Otherwise, the refund shall be the amount the student has paid for the instruction multiplied by a fraction, the numerator of which is the number of hours of instruction the student has not received but for which the student has paid, and the denominator, of which is the total number of hours of instruction for which the student has paid.
Refunds will be paid within a thirty (30) day period following the date upon which the student's withdrawal has been made. This refund policy is also found on the Enrollment Agreement.
Attendance Due to the residential nature of the program, a student must participate in the entire course.
Leave of Absence
A student may miss up to 10 hours with verbal approval by the Director. The student is responsible for the instruction missed.
